Famous Soviet and Ukrainian poet, writer and former member of Parliament from the Communist party Boris Oliynyk has died on 82-m to year of life, reported journalist Mikhail Maslov.

As written Masliy in Facebook, the death occurred on Sunday at 11.45 (same as GMT). The poet died after a prolonged illness.

Oleynik in 2005 was awarded the highest state award — the title of hero of Ukraine. His authorship belongs to more than 40 books of poetry and journalism.

The works of Boris Oleynik was translated into Russian, Italian, Czech, Slovak, Polish, Serbo-Croatian, Romanian, and other languages. Many of the author’s poems set to music and become songs, the most famous of which are «Song of mother» and «Mom sowed the sleep.»
