The Director of branch of Fund of Andrey Pervozvannogo in Athens Sergei Golovin awarded the badge of Ministry of foreign Affairs of Russia «For cooperation». The ceremony was held in the historical building of the Russian Embassy in Athens.

Golovin was awarded for «active public activity aimed at the promotion of cultural, humanitarian and religious ties between Russia and Greece,» reads the order of the Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.

«The most important field of activity of Sergey Golovin is public diplomacy,» said Ambassador of Russia to Greece Andrey Maslov on the award.

According to him, largely thanks to the efforts of Golovin in Greece was created by the forum of civil societies. In 2016 in the framework of the cross year of Russia and Greece in Athens hosted the fourth forum, which was attended by the foreign Ministers of the two countries Sergey Lavrov and Nikos Kotzias.

«But public and political activity Golovin is not limited only to forum. I would like to mention an annual November celebration in Patras, dedicated to the Apostle Andrew, great activity for maintaining the Russian naval historic cemetery at the Piraeus municipal cemetery, held annually in the fall of Rhodes forum «Dialogue of civilizations», — said the Ambassador.


«Greece and Russia are tied by thousands of threads of relations between States and between the Orthodox peoples. The large role played by civil society. And these relations are not affected by the political situation, because they have their basis in common to both the Orthodox peoples values relevant to family, to children, to parents, relative to its historic past, the preservation of Orthodox values,» said Golovin.

According to him, the peoples of the two countries have a constant need for informal communication, and this is the real friendship of peoples. In the cross year of Russia and Greece events was much more than days in a year, said Golovin.

He reported that the Foundation is preparing new projects, in particular in Rhodes, the 15-th time will host the «Dialogue of civilizations».

«In November we will hold in Patras conference on Internet security in cooperation with «Kaspersky Lab» — said Golovin.

He said that he is preparing a major conference, dedicated to Saint Andrew, and other activities.


The Foundation of St. Andrew is actively involved in the development of relations between Russia and Greece. Among the initiatives of the Foundation — who has become a regular forum for civil societies, turned into a platform of communication between communities, between churches, between the two Nations.

The Foundation participated in organizing the celebrations in memory of the outstanding Russian diplomat and the first President of Greece, count Ioannis Kapodistrias.

Thanks to the Fund in Russia was brought Orthodox shrines — Belt of the virgin Mary from the Vatopedi monastery and the cross of St. Andrew from Church of the Apostle in Patras.

The Foundation organized the bringing of the relics of the Holy Hierarch Luke (Voyno-Yasenetsky), Archbishop of Simferopol and Crimea in Patras in the spring of last year. In the fall of 2016, the Fund held a number of events dedicated to the 165th anniversary of Princess Olga Konstantinovna Romanova, Queen of the Hellenes.
