About ten thousand people pray at the walls of Parliament «of the admonition of deputies»

Ten of thousands of believers from different regions of Ukraine carried out the Verkhovna Rada of prayer «of the admonition of deputies», so they did not accept the resonance of the anti-Catholic laws, the official website of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP).

Earlier it became known that the Verkhovna Rada will be on Thursday to consider draft laws on the activities of religious organizations, as there is no required number of votes for their adoption. In the morning, UNIAN news Agency reported that before the building of Parliament has gathered more than a thousand people.

«Right now, 18 may 2017, under walls of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine about ten thousand faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church from different regions of Ukraine do a prayer vigil that God told MPs not to take the anti-Catholic bills that is placed on the agenda of the meeting», — stated in the message.

The service was led by the hierarchs of the UOC-MP. In the Church specify that in this way the believers «trying to force MPs to hear the opinions of the religious part of the society and to prevent the legalization in Ukraine discrimination on religious grounds».

Ukraine operates the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (the self-governing Church of the Moscow Patriarchate), and also unrecognized by the world Orthodox of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyiv Patriarchate (UOC KP) and Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church (UAOC). While the UOC-MP has repeatedly reported on the harassment of the clergy and the seizure of Orthodox churches by representatives of the UOC-KP. In particular, in 2014-2016, the UOC-MP has lost 40 temples.

The Ukrainian Parliament plans to consider two resonant draft law on the status of religious organizations. The first suggests that religious organizations, senior centers are in the state recognized Ukraine «aggressor country» will be able to appoint metropolitans and bishops only in agreement with the authorities. The second bill proposes to give the congregation the right to change the jurisdiction of the communities, which operate both in Ukraine and abroad. The UOC-MP consider these repressive laws and the fear that they will legitimize the seizure of the temples.
