The EU does not require Poland to create camps for refugees, said Friday the President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier after a meeting with his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda.

Poland refused to accept on its territory refugees in the framework of the European Union on resettlement. Prime Minister Beata Szydlo said that this is the official position of the Polish government. Polish authorities have repeatedly stated that it opposes the forced movement of refugees, however, are willing to assist migrants in case if the volunteer expresses a desire to live in the country.

«No one thinks this is real… I don’t know anyone in Europe who would have offered,» said Steinmeier, answering the question about the possibility of creating in Poland the camps for forced settlement of refugees.

In his turn, the dude reminded that Poland is not against accepting refugees on a voluntary basis. «I can’t imagine a situation that someone takes power in Poland and force here,» he said.

Earlier Tuesday, the European Commissioner for migration, home Affairs and citizenship Dimitris Avramopoulos stated that the European Commission intends in June to threaten Poland and Hungary sanctions if they are within a month will begin to accept refugees in Italy and Greece.

In September 2015 the interior Minister of the EU by a majority of votes decided to settle in 23 of the 28 countries of the community, in addition to the previously agreed 40 thousand asylum seekers, another 120 thousand refugees in the territory of the European Union.
