Exercises communication groups NATO «Durable cobalt» (Steadfast Cobalt), which will be attended by about a thousand soldiers of the Alliance from 25 countries will be held in Lithuania from 21 may to 2 June, the press service of the Ministry of defence of the Baltic Republic.

The communication group NATO are the structural units that control the operations of the rapid reaction force of NATO in the world.

«An annual NATO military exercises in support of communication and information exchange communication groups of the Alliance «Durable cobalt» (Steadfast Cobalt) will start in Lithuania on may 21, completed maneuvers on 2 June», — stated in the message of the defense Department.

It adds to the defense Ministry, the exercises will be attended by about 1 thousand NATO troops from 25 countries of the Alliance of more than 40 different units. In the exercises you will be assessed the communication skills units of NATO in ensuring the exchange of information and liaison support between rapid reaction forces of NATO, and also between the joint headquarters of the Alliance throughout the world.

Leadership and management exercises will be stationed in the battalion named after Vytautas Magnus in Panemune. The necessary support of the host party will provide arriving the Lithuanian army and the government of the Kaunas district. «Arriving forces in the exercises you will be given the opportunity to use civilian and military infrastructure, information technology and communication technology, medical and other services,» adds the Ministry.

In Lithuania the NATO exercises of this type conducted for the second time. In 2014 they were held in Kaunas at the military school named after General Stasys Information. In previous times teaching «Durable cobalt» was held in Romania.
