About 1.2 million citizens of Ukraine who moved to the territory of Russia after 2014, ready to receive a Russian passport, said the first Deputy Chairman of the Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian integration and relations with compatriots, head of the Institute of CIS countries Konstantin Zatulin on Tuesday, noting that approximately 250 thousand people have already received Russian citizenship.

«I am guided by the interior Ministry statistics. MIA gives, in my opinion, 1 200 thousand citizens of Ukraine who moved, moved to Russia after 2014 and never returned back, some of them have received residence permit, and part received citizenship, what part? About 250 thousand,» — said Zatulin during the press-conference on a theme «problems of obtaining Russian citizenship: new legislative initiatives of the state Duma of the Russian Federation» on the multimedia site of the MIA «Russia today» on Tuesday.

The MP noted that the remaining part also seeks to obtain Russian citizenship, but faces restrictions on the quota of the state program of resettlement of compatriots in Russia.

«Judging by the mail we receive, too eager to legalize, to residence, to nationality, and so forth, but can’t break through the limitations associated with the quotas of the state program of resettlement of compatriots in Russia. Not all regions are now in a position to equip as required by this program, those who are recognized as voluntary immigrants, so don’t fall in this quota,» pay attention Zatulin.
