Belarus is studying alternatives to Russian oil supplies

Belarus does not refuse from the idea of the development of oil supplies from countries other than Russia and does not rule out such supplies in the current year, said Tuesday in Minsk, Vice Premier of Belarus Vladimir Semashko.

«Everything is possible», Syamashka said to journalists, answering a question, whether this year alternative oil supplies, particularly from Iran, and missing the need to diversify supply after the settlement of the oil dispute with Russia.

Earlier the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on the background of this dispute instructed the officials to look for alternative ways of deliveries of «black gold». In October 2016 in the port of Odessa arrived the tanker with Azeri oil for Belarus, and in March 2017 — the first tanker of Iranian oil.

Meanwhile, in April, Moscow and Minsk have signed the documents, had settled a controversy in the oil and gas sector. The documents were signed immediately after the statement «Gazprom» about the receipt of a debt of Belarus for delivered in 2016-2017 gas in full volume — 726,2 million dollars. The parties agreed to step-down coefficients to the current formula of gas prices for Belarus and restoring Russian oil supplies to the level of 24 million tons per year.
