The monument to those killed in Syria during search and rescue operations to marine corps fighter Alexander Pozynich will establish in his native Novocherkassk, told RIA Novosti the representative of the regional public organization «Center of social initiatives» Michael Evanta.

«Drew their own resources, means of concerned residents, business representatives, the necessary amount was collected. The monument will consist of a full-size figure of Alexander in military gear. The height of figures without the pedestal will be 1.9 meters, Alexander is depicted in full combat gear with weapons in their hands. As for equipment, for consultation involved the professional military, to avoid inaccuracies. The opening will take place in the Alexander Park, in the heart of the city of Novocherkassk, not far from the mound of Glory and Eternal fire,» explained Evanta.

He added that the monument is made of advanced composite materials Studio in Orenburg. He added that the widow of Alexander Pozynich Irina went to Orenburg to approve the copy of the monument. According to the interlocutor of the Agency, Irina Pozynich was satisfied with the work.

This monument in its composition is dedicated not only to Alexander, but to all soldiers of modern Russia. In front of the monument will establish a 20-meter high stele, it will be displayed on the pictures of the fighting in Syria and Afghanistan,» — said the representative of the centre, adding that the opening of the monument will take place on 26 may.

In November 2015, the Russian su-24 was shot down by Turkish F-16s over Syrian territory. The crew commander and Navigator managed to eject before the crash. Commander Oleg Peshkov died as a result of attack by fighters from the ground during the landing, the Navigator Konstantin Murakhtin was rescued by a search and rescue group of the Russian infantry with supporting fire from the Syrian forces.
