The Commissioner for human rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova expects that Russian pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko will be released from U.S. prison, and during the pendency of the decision for clemency will change his detention regime.

Moskalkova earlier appealed to the President of the United States Donald Trump to pardon convicted in US Yaroshenko.

«We look forward to the options of a pardon related to his release, but I would like to for that period when it considers that a decision he would have changed the regime of detention,» — said Moskalkova journalists on Tuesday.

According to her, Yaroshenko is contained in one of the most restrictive regimes, which is not designed for prolonged family visits, obtaining the appropriate gear.

«From our side we are ready in accordance with the Federal law to respond to every complaint of a foreign state on the protection of foreign citizens on the territory of the Russian Federation», — said the Ombudsman.

She noted that she is awaiting a response to his appeal to the Trump no earlier than 30 days, in accordance with the procedure of sending a letter.

«I hope that the new leadership (USA), which in the elections have expressed the principles of humanism, justice, rule of law, a new way to approach the question of protecting the rights and freedoms of man and citizen in the United States and the protection of the rights of foreign citizens on the territory of the United States, which include our citizen Yaroshenko,» — said Moskalkova.

She also noted that many experts question the «legality, validity and fairness of the judicial decision», as the offence is committed not on US soil and according to the disposal of the Ombudsman, Yaroshenko only charged with complicity in the crime.
