The Polish Navy hopes to get at least four submarines, said at a press conference on Tuesday, the country’s defense Minister Anthony Macierewicz.

The Polish military leadership earlier on Tuesday presented a new concept of defense, where the main source of risk named Russia.

«It’s about the acquisition of a minimum of four submarines. Without defense of the Baltic sea we don’t defend our Fatherland», — said Macierewicz.

The Minister called the timing of the receipt of the submarines, said that the new submarines should be equipped with not only protection, but also the means of destruction.

Statements about the alleged threat from Russia, the Baltic countries and Poland have repeatedly heard before, although Moscow has repeatedly stressed that Russia will never attack any of the NATO countries. According to the head of the Russian foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, NATO is well aware of the lack of Moscow plans to attack anyone, but just enjoy the occasion in order to accommodate more vehicles and battalions near the Russian border.

At the summit in Warsaw in 2016, the Alliance has decided to place in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Poland at the request of those countries, multinational battalions on a rotational basis. It was then decided that the basis of the contingent of the battalion located in Latvia, will represent Canada, Lithuania, Germany, Estonia, great Britain, and Poland — USA.
