The US administration hopes to achieve in 2018 the budget of the Department of homeland security (DHS) by almost 7% compared to the current fiscal year, according to the draft Federal budget, which was presented by the White house.

According to the data, the DHS budget should amount to 44.1 billion dollars, 2.8 billion higher than this year.

«The President’s proposed draft budget provides for the security of U.S. borders by investing $ 2.6 billion in high-priority tactical infrastructure and technology,» the document reads. This, in particular, involves «the planning, design and construction of a wall along the southern boundary in accordance with the Executive decree of the President of January 25, 2017,» reads the draft.

In the White house believe that «these investments will strengthen border security and will reduce the flow of people and drugs, illegally crossing the American border».

1.5 billion is proposed to increase the costs associated with the detention and deportation of illegal immigrants. In addition, $ 1.5 billion will be spent on security-critical U.S. computer systems. Along with this we are talking about the funding of the office of transport security, and various programs aimed at identifying illegal immigrants.

For this project to become law, will require the approval of both houses of Congress and the signature of the President. Traditionally, the draft budget is only a broad description of the priorities of the White house, and the real budget is usually the result of bargaining and compromise between the administration and the Congress.
