Civil funeral and farewell to people’s artist of Russia, Director of the theatre of the Russian Army Alexander Burdonsky will be held on may 26, — told RIA Novosti the representative of the theatre.

The famous Director of the theater of the Russian Army, people’s artist of Russia, grandson of Joseph Stalin Alexander Burdonsky died on 76-m to year of life on Tuesday evening in the hospital after a long illness.

«Civil funeral and farewell to people’s artist of Russia, Director of the theatre of the Russian Army Alexander Burdonsky will be held on Friday, may 26, and will begin at 11:00. Everything will happen in its own theater, where he worked since 1972. Followed by a funeral service and cremation at St. Nicholas Archangel cemetery,» — said the representative of the theatre.

Alexander burdonsky — one of the most significant figures in modern Russian theatre. The graduate of GITIS at the teacher-a student of Stanislavsky Mary Knebel Burdonsky faithfully served the Russian Army theatre for over 45 years. In this scene the Director has supplied more than two dozen plays, has earned high praise from the critics, honorary awards and the love of the audience.

Among them are performances, included in the Golden Fund of the Russian theatre: «Vassa Zheleznova» by Gorky, «Orpheus descends into hell» Williams, «guilty Without guilt» Ostrovsky, «the lady with the camellias» by Dumas, and many others.
