Ten Directors from Russia, Italy and Denmark will participate in the III International competition of young Opera Directors «NANO-OPERA», which will be held in Moscow in the theater «Helikon-Opera». The draw for contestants will be held on may 24. Three rounds of competition will take place on 25, 26 and 27 may. About it reported in a press-service of the theatre.

«This is a unique project, unique in the world, in which the jury submitted to the Director of a large European theatres, — said the Chairman of the jury, people’s artist of Russia, artistic Director of «Helikon-Opera» Dmitry Bertman. For the first time this project becomes a television and the channel «Culture» will broadcast live the contest.

Competition of young Opera Directors will be held for the third time on the stage of the Moscow theater «Helikon-Opera». The competition is traditionally held in three stages — 25, 26 and 27 may. On the first day — working with artists on the production of an Aria, the second of the Duo and the third mass stage. After the final tour and discussion of the jury on may 27, a ceremony of awarding the winners. Opera will conclude the forum with a gala concert, which will take place on may 28.

Will estimate works of representative international jury composed of Directors of major Russian and foreign musical theatres. The jury will be headed by Dmitry Bertman. Together with him to reach a verdict, the contestants will be: Nicholas Payne (Opera Europe), Christina Spellman (Grand theatre Liceu, Spain), Christoph Meyer (German Opera on the Rhine), shell Angled (Opera in Umea, Sweden), Jean-Daniel Duke (Opera Dortmund, Germany), Neeme Kuningas and Sergey Bobrov (Krasnoyarsk theatre of Opera and ballet), Andrejs Zagars (Latvia), Georgy Isaakyan (Children’s musical Theater Satz).

The competition involves Russian young Opera Directors in Moscow, St.-Petersburg, Pskov, Vladikavkaz, as well as foreign representatives from Copenhagen (Denmark) and Terlano (Italy).

«The participants of the past contests, and we are already working successfully with their names familiar to fans of theatre Alexey Frandetti, Dmitry Alenushkin, Pavel Sorokin. I hope this third competition «NANO-OPERA» will open up new names of talented owners of a rare unique profession as an Opera Director,» said Bertman.
