In the Moscow Museum of modern art opens exhibition of Gaudi

More than 150 works of the famous Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi will allow to trace the stages of his work and learn more about such buildings as the Cathedral of Sagrada família and the güell Palace, the exhibition «Antonio Gaudi. Barcelona,» which opens Wednesday at the Moscow Museum of modern art.

The exhibition will bring together more than 150 objects from the collections of state institutions of Spain and private collections — from plans and drawings student of Gaudi and furniture from the House Calvet and decorative tiles from Park güell in the late period of creativity of the author, according to the Museum.

«The project aims to trace the artistic path of Antonio Gaudi (1852-1926), noting the most notable engineering achievements of the architect, during his lifetime, and his influence on contemporary culture in General. The first in Russia exhibition will be held in the year of the 165th anniversary of the birthday of the architect,» the message reads.

The exhibition consists of five thematic sections. The first will be an introduction and talk about the biography of gaudí with the help of rare footage. The rest is devoted to urban facilities that become symbols of Barcelona. Visitors learn more about the school of St. Theresa, the Palace and Park güell, Casa Vicens, Casa batlló. In addition, the exhibition will feature the unique photographs of the early XX century Adolf Mas from the Historical archive of the College of architects of Catalonia and a short film of the Spanish film archive showing the opening of the exhibition «Dali and Gaudi’s» Guell Park.

The exhibition will be complemented by contemporary Catalan artist Frederic Amat, which is considered the successor of the traditions of Gaudi. The project will host a series of educational events for adults and children. Opening of the exhibition a catalogue will be published about the life and work of the author.
