France and Germany on Thursday will consent to the accession to the NATO coalition against the terrorist group «Islamic state»*, reports Reuters with reference to high-ranking diplomats.

«NATO as an institution will join the coalition. The question is whether this is a symbolic gesture for the United States. France and Germany believe it is» — said one of the diplomats.

Previously Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the Alliance has not yet made a decision about the necessity of formal entry into the Alliance to form a coalition to fight against ISIS*, the number of allies deems it necessary for political and practical reasons. In particular, U.S. Secretary Rex Tillerson said that the US wants formal accession to the NATO coalition.
