The Prime Minister of Nepal Pushpa Kamal Dahal announced Wednesday on his resignation, the newspaper reports the Kathmandu Post.

The leader of the «Communist party of Nepal (Maoist centre)» Dahal, also known by the nickname Prachanda, meaning «Fierce», headed the government for the second time on 4 August last year. This happened after the withdrawal of the Maoists from the coalition with the «Communist party of Nepal» (United Marxist-Leninist, UML), resulting in the government Khadi Prasad Oli retired. Among the reasons for the withdrawal of the Maoists from the coalition called the failure of the coalition agreement, the inefficiency of the government in efforts to rebuild the country after a powerful earthquake 2015 and the failures in social policy.

The Maoists merged with the main opposition Nepali Congress party and formed a new government with the support of several small parties of the Parliament. The leaders of the Nepali Congress and the Maoists reached a political agreement according to which the first Prime Minister to be appointed Dahal, and after nine months is the representative of the Congress. With this arrangement, the publication connects the resignation of Dahal — since taking office a little more than nine months. The new Prime Minister, likely to become the leader of the Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Announcing the resignation in a televised address to the nation, Dahal said that thus comes to end a long drought of confidence» in Nepali politics,» the newspaper writes.
