In the coming 2018 presidential elections of Russia in case of adoption and entry into force of the amendments to the electoral law can be declared not earlier than December 7 and no later than December 17, said the Secretary of the CEC, Maya Grishina.

«In the case of adoption and entry into force of the law is the period from December 7 to December 17,» said Grishina, answering questions of journalists after the CEC meeting on Wednesday.

The state Duma on Wednesday adopted in the third final reading a package of laws amending the electoral legislation that had been introduced in the state Duma, senators of the Federation Council Andrey Clisham and Anatoly Shirokov, March 3, and approved by the lower chamber of Parliament, mainly the second reading on may 19.

Date of presidential elections, under current legislation, falls on the second Sunday in March. Under the proposed amendments, if the second Sunday is a combined, post-holiday or a working day in connection with the transfer of holidays, the day of the vote is not on the previous, and the next, i.e. third Sunday of the month. In 2018 it will be on March 18 (the day of the reunification of the Crimea with Russia).
