The expenses of the German refugees in 2016 amounted to about 20 billion euros, while 9.3 billion was allocated in aid to the länder and municipalities, told the newspaper Rheinische Post, citing ranked in the order of publication government report.

According to the report, the Federal government paid the land 5.5 billion euros for the costs associated with not yet received the status of refugee migrants. Another two billion euros were allocated for the integration of refugees into German society. Among other things, EUR 400 million was directed for compensation of losses of land associated with the construction of accommodation centres, 350 million Euro in compensation costs associated with underage migrants who arrived in Germany unaccompanied.

The most significant assistance was provided to the lands North Rhine-Westphalia (1.2 billion Euro), Bavaria (860 million) and Baden-württemberg (728 million).

Costs themselves of the Federal authorities on the refugees amounted to about 20 billion euros. «Additional costs in the amount of over 11 billion euros were spent in particular on measures to combat the causes of migration», — quotes the edition of the report.
