The US President Donald trump, who arrived on the Apennines, at the meetings with Pope Francis, the Vatican’s Secretary of state Pietro parolin and Secretary for relations with States Paul Richard Gallagher discussed international relations, the development of religious dialogue and the protection of Christians in the middle East.

«During the warm conversations it expressed satisfaction with the condition of the existing relations between the Holy see and the United States, as well as a joint commitment for peace, freedom of conscience and religion. The parties expressed their hope for equitable cooperation between the Vatican and the Catholic Church in the United States, which is engaged in serving society in the field of health, education and the provision of assistance to migrants», — reported the press service of the Holy see.

«The discussions allowed an exchange of views on various international issues and promoting peace in the world through political processes and interreligious dialogue, with particular emphasis on the situation in the middle East and the protection of Christian communities», — stated in the message.

Meeting of Pope Francis and U.S. President at the Apostolic Palace of the Vatican continued Wednesday morning just over 30 minutes. After that, the US President will hold a meeting with the state Secretary of Vatican, cardinal Parolin and foreign Minister of the Vatican, Gallagher.
