Member of the presidential Council on human rights (HRC) Andrei Babushkin told RIA Novosti that passed to the first Deputy head of the presidential administration Sergei Kiriyenko requesting to consider the issue of pardoning of the ex-mayor of Makhachkala said Amirov.

On Wednesday evening, a meeting of the members of the HRC with the first Deputy head of the presidential administration Sergei Kiriyenko. As reported earlier, the head of the HRC Mikhail Fedotov, the interview lasted two hours, the meeting was able to discuss a wide range of issues. The members of the HRC expressed, in particular, the idea of Amnesty for the centenary of the revolution in Russia.

Babushkin said that the defenders gave the administration a number of documents.

«We agreed that we will send Kiriyenko our proposals for Amnesty… I wanted to say about the pardon and gave him our appeal to consider the issue of pardoning of said Dzhaparovich Amirov, the former mayor of Makhachkala, cavalier of order of friendship. I was able in personal communion with him to give him these materials,» said a member of the HRC.

Severo-the Caucasian district military court (SKOVS) last year sentenced former mayor of the capital of Dagestan to life imprisonment for terrorism. Seven accomplices received sentences ranging from 10 to 22 years, including Amirov’s nephew Yusup Djaparov, who was sentenced to 18 years. The Supreme court later upheld the life sentence Amirov.

They were found guilty of involvement in the terrorist attack, attempt on the life of acting head of the local division of the investigative Committee of Arsene Gadzhibekov, as well as committing other grave and especially grave crimes.

In addition, in July 2014, SCOWS sentenced Amirov and Dzhaparov to 10 and 8.5 years of imprisonment respectively, for plotting the assassination of their political opponents — the head of branch of the Pension Fund of Dagestan and famous Russian wrestler Sagid Murtazaliyev.
