The documents adopted at the summit of the Shanghai cooperation organization (SCO) in June in Astana will strengthen cooperation in the security sphere, said the Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Roman Vasilenko.

«The adoption at the upcoming Astana SCO summit on June 8-9 statements of heads of state on the joint fight against international terrorism and the Convention on combating extremism to strengthen coordination of cooperation between the countries of the region in the security sphere,» — said Vasilenko during the international round table «the Role of parliaments in legislative ensuring cooperation and regional security in Central Asia».

The SCO is an international organization founded in 2001 by the leaders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. In June 2016 at the summit in Uzbekistan signed a Memorandum on the membership of India and Pakistan.

Countries-observers in the SCO at the moment are Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran and Mongolia, the partner countries — Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Nepal, Turkey and Sri Lanka.
