Konchalovsky: Russian seasons is important for Russia’s international image

Director Andrei Konchalovsky called the renewal of the «Russian seasons» «a wonderful initiative», important for creating a positive image of Russia.

«Russian seasons» — the continuation of traditions established in the early XX century, Sergei Diaghilev, launched in February. In the framework of the project best performances of the Russian groups will be shown in Japan and the far Eastern region of Russia. The Ministry of culture plans to undertake during the year more than 200 events in more than 45 cities of Japan. Next year «Russian seasons» will be held in Italy in 2019 in the United States in 2020 in Germany.

«I believe that the renewal of the «Russian seasons» by the world is a wonderful initiative. It is now extremely important. There is a deliberate strategy of creating a negative image of the Russian people to fight this difficult, the power of the Western-European media incomparable. But the world must see that we not only know how to do tanks, but also roses grow», Konchalovsky said at a press conference in MIA «Russia today».

The Director noted that for him Japan is one of the unique treasures of world art.

«I’m excited for this trip to Japan, every time I come there, I feel the awe of the culture of this nation, its integrity. Words can not Express, it is better just to worship», — he explained.

The legendary Bolshoi theatre production of «Giselle» on June 4 will open «Russian seasons» on the stage of the largest performing arts Center «Tokyo Bunka Kaikan». In the framework of «Russian seasons» will also be presented the film Konchalovsky’s «Paradise».
