Monitoring brain new fathers showed that young dads really love and care about her daughters than on sons, which can be easily seen in the pattern of brain activity, say scientists in an article published in the journal Behavioral Neuroscience.

«When the baby cries or calls dad, fathers daughters responded to their appeal is stronger than fathers of sons. We desperately need to understand how unconscious ideas about the sex of the baby can affect how care about him, parents even in the first days and weeks of his life,» said Jennifer Mascaro (Mascaro Jennifer) of Emory University in Atlanta (USA).

In recent years, scientists have begun to pay close attention to the fact that the body of men and women as well as females and males can completely different ways to react to different stimuli, including pain, pleasure or other signals. For example, last year, biologists from the US found that differences in responses of men and women to stress are explained by the presence in the body of men of a particular protein, the overwhelming reaction of anxiety.

, Mascaro and her colleagues have discovered another unusual manifestation of biological differences of the sexes, by examining how the brain reacts to men crying their newly born daughters and sons. To do this, they gathered five dozen volunteers who have recently had children, and asked them to wear a special device that recorded all their conversations for several days.

After that they invited the volunteers to his laboratory together with children and suggested that they take a free test in a magnetic resonance tomograph. In most cases, the child could not bear the separation from his father and began to cry, which allowed scientists to track how they responded to the calls of the baby. In some cases, the scientists cited the «foreign» kids in the lab and observed the reaction of men to their weeping.

In addition to stronger reactions to crying, reflected in the brain of volunteers, the scientists were able to fix and other changes. For example, in the brain of fathers of daughters were more active those areas which are responsible for emotions and values, and in the brain of sons other regions.

In addition, varied set of words used by the fathers when dealing with a child. Fathers of daughters more often used words related to negative emotions and body, and the boys ‘ parents – the words associated with success and development, as well as more «analytical» words and expressions.

Scientists believe that such differences in brain functioning and behaviour of fathers may explain why women tend to be more emotional and prone to empathy than men, and to be the cause of other social features in the behavior of weak and strong floor.
