The state Oceanographic administration of China and research organizations from six other countries, including Russia, signed Thursday a number of memorandums of understanding, aimed at enhancing international cooperation in the field of Arctic research, said in a Friday statement management.

The Russian side at the signing ceremony represented the Arctic and Antarctic research Institute, which conducts a comprehensive study of the polar regions of the planet. Also memoranda of understanding signed with Norway, USA, Germany, Chile and Argentina.

It is noted that the signed MOUs aimed at promoting and strengthening international cooperation in the field of polar research, as well as to improve the effectiveness in the Arctic and Antarctic scientific work. They affect the following aspects of work like inspection, logistics, personnel and technical exchanges, the protection of the environment.

In the Chinese capital these days is 40-I consultative meeting on the Antarctic Treaty, participation in which representatives from 50 countries and international organizations.
