Georgia marks independence Day

Celebrations and festivities will be held in the capital and major cities of Georgia on Friday, may 26 on the occasion of the celebration of the independence Day, informed the Georgian authorities.

Festive events will be held under the slogan «I’m from the country Rustaveli». Famous Georgian poem «the knight in the Panther’s skin» Shota Rustaveli is the main theme of the celebration. Georgia marks the 850th anniversary of the legendary poet.

Traditionally, the epicenter of independence Day celebrations is Tbilisi’s Central Rustaveli Avenue. In this area, between Rustaveli Avenue and Freedom square — will be followed by entertainment shows and concerts, each Ministry will talk about some of the projects implemented and planned reforms.

This year, like the past few years, the government of Georgia is conducting a military parade, preferring festivities. In Liberty square at 12.00 (11.00 GMT) about 400 recruits will take the military oath, on the main Avenue will be exhibited military equipment. Military exhibits will also show other major cities of the country.

On Central Avenue during the day of the scheduled children’s concerts and quiz, the auction of artists ‘ works, exhibition projects, startups, concerts of electronic, folk and modern music, plays and theater productions, sporting events, shows, entertainers, a show of «revival of old recipes of traditional Georgian dishes». The evening will end with a gala concert featuring the stars of Georgian show business. The celebrations will take part and make speeches Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and President Giorgi Margvelashvili.
