. Physics of the Russian quantum center created and tested in practice the world’s first «quantum blockchain» – an uncrackable system, the distributed storage of data, protected using the methods of quantum cryptography, and has published instructions for its Assembly in the electronic library

The idea of creation of the block chain – protected databases, each block of which is connected to all other parts of the base and can not be tampered with or altered, appeared for a long time, about 30 years ago. Despite the promise of this idea, his first use of it found relatively recently, in 2008, when it created the first cryptocurrency based on it – bitcoin.

Such systems are today attracting the attention of financiers and experts in the field of data security, as the blockchain allows you to securely store records of all transactions and foreign exchange transactions without fear of breaking. This, experts believe, will reduce costs to protect banks from hacking and will help to solve judicial disputes between market players in the «automatic» order.

In addition to the architecture of the block chain, the guarantor of this is that the blockchain is a distributed system – a constantly updated copy of the database are available on the computers of all of its users, and the «illegal» changing one of them will be quickly detected and suppressed.

Quantum computers, how to tell Alexei Fedorov from the Russian quantum center and his colleagues will be able to circumvent both of these obstacles in the future almost unlimited computing power will allow attackers to forge the electronic signature, which signed transaction in the blockchain, and then make changes in it or not give to other network members to use it.

To resolve this issue, Fyodorov and his colleagues created their own version of the blockchain that allows to use quantum cryptography system and quantum data transmission to protect such databases from hacking.

In the framework of quantum communication channels, protected from hacking, are used to transmit information about the transactions that occur at present. When all the participants of the blockchain receive the data about the impending transfer of information or money, they check the trustworthiness of their members and collectively decide whether it’s worth it to put in base pairs by comparing the values obtained between them.

This approach, as the authors of the article, protects the blockchain from individual «dishonest» participants of the transaction, sending conflicting information to different members of the network, but does not guarantee protection against a complete takeover of the network and fake the entire database as a whole. On the other hand, according to physicists such hacking blockchain is an extremely complex and virtually unsolvable task as it would require the capture of a substantial part of the network participants.

How to tell the scientists, the blockchain has been tested on a newly created three-node quantum network between branches of Gazprombank in Moscow. All attempts to «attacker», which played the role of one of the members of the network, to bring about the transaction to the database failed, which confirmed the efficiency of the blockchain.

It is also important that this technology was created and first tested in Russia in real-life conditions,» they concluded Fedorov and his colleagues.
