The Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko has said that he can join the group of public prosecutors in the criminal case of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych of treason.

Obolonskiy district court of Kiev on may 4 began a preliminary hearing on the case of Yanukovych of treason. The panel of judges gave the former President the opportunity to participate in the process via videoconference. Kiev court announced that he was ready to organize a video-conference with the Rostov court. In a press-service of the Russian court told RIA Novosti that videoconferencing is no need to send queries in Russia. In posted on the Internet photocopies of agenda with the call to Yanukovych stated date of may 18.

Yanukovych to this day is unable to attend the trial, since the Rostov regional court has not received an official request from the Obolon court.

«I don’t exclude the participation in this court at the appropriate stage. I am part of the prosecutorial group in this matter, if need be, my presence in court, I’ll be there,» said Lutsenko on Thursday evening in the program «Right to rule» on the TV channel 1+1.

He added that two military prosecutors, who represent the prosecution in this case, «to cope with the technical launch phase of the trial.»
