The official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova on the briefing commented on the statements of the European media and organizations about the violation of the rights of migrants in the construction of the stadium «Zenit arena» in St. Petersburg.

In her words, «the most acute anxiety» is experienced by the Norwegian football Association, sent may 16, the International football Federation (FIFA) a letter asking for an investigation into the migrant labor in conditions «reminiscent of modern-day slavery». «Similar experiences have previously voiced and Holland,» — said Zakharov.

Foreign Ministry spokesman noted that in this case the subject of human rights is used «not to destination» and as a «tool of the information campaign».

«Such kind of attacks we hear before every major international competitions, which are held in our country», — said Zakharov.

«With regard to conditions of employment and stay of the North Korean workers, which were discussed in the documents sent to different international institutions that are so «concerned» about human rights, they are governed by the Russian labor and immigration law, the functions of control over execution of which is entrusted to the relevant competent Russian authorities on migration issues. So to enforce the rights of hired workers in Russia, there is someone», she said.

However, the spokesperson of the foreign Ministry urged to pay attention to the report of the EU Agency about violations of the rights of migrants in the European Union.

«Maybe makes sense as the Netherlands or Norway to prepare and send to international organizations petitions about how things are going with the exploitation of man by man in their own countries? Will also be interesting. It is better to test in accordance with Norwegian values, as they respect human rights», she added.

Stadium «Sankt-the Petersburg arena», also known as the «Zenit-arena», built on Krestovskiy island for the football club «Zenit» in 2007. In connection with the application for holding the world football championship 2018 project it was decided to modify so that the stadium meets the requirements of FIFA. The arena was opened on 22 April with a match of the championship of Russia between «Zenith» and «Ural».
