The monument to those killed in Syria during search and rescue operations to marine corps fighter Alexander Pozynich opened in his native Novocherkassk, according to the official website of the city administration.

Earlier, the representative of the regional public organization «Center of social initiatives» Michael Iwanta told RIA Novosti that the monument is a full-size figure of Alexander in military gear. The height of figures without the pedestal is 1.9 metres, depicts a marine in full combat gear with weapons in their hands. On a pedestal in two lines inscription: «Alexander Pozynich. Soldiers Of Russia».

«In Novocherkassk on may 26, on the main alley of Alexander garden, a monument to the native of Novocherkassk, the sailor marine corps, commander of the Order of courage (posthumously) to Alexander Pozynich», — stated in the message.

The monument is made of advanced composite materials Studio in Orenburg. According to the representative of an NGO, the widow of Alexander Pozynich Irina went to Orenburg to approve the copy of the monument. As stated Evanta, this monument in its composition is dedicated not only to Alexander, but to all soldiers of modern Russia. In front of the monument will establish a 20-meter high stele, it will be displayed on the pictures of the fighting in Syria and Afghanistan.

In November 2015, the Russian su-24 was shot down by Turkish F-16s over Syrian territory. The crew commander and Navigator managed to eject before the crash. Commander Oleg Peshkov died as a result of attack by fighters from the ground during the landing, the Navigator Konstantin Murakhtin was rescued by a search and rescue group of the Russian infantry with supporting fire from the Syrian forces. During the rescue operation killed Alexander Pozynich marine. Posthumously he was awarded the order of Courage. School No. 11 in Novocherkassk, where he studied the Pozynich called his name. In addition, the city opened a memorial plaque in memory of the deceased.
