The memory of the inhabitant Belogorska of the Amur region Nikita Shevchenko, who died in Syria in July 2016, will perpetuate the Memorial of military glory in his hometown, the press-service of administration of Belogorsk.

In July last year it became known that the Russian soldier Nikita Shevchenko died in the Syrian province of Aleppo while performing tasks to support the column of cars of the centre of reconciliation of the warring parties. Shevchenko followed the car escort convoys of food and water for local residents. At the entrance to the locality of the work laid down by militants with an improvised explosive device. The Russian military doctors, was fighting for the lives of severely injured Shevchenko, but to save him failed.

«The unanimous decision of deputies of Belogorsky city Council the memory of the deceased Nikita Shevchenko will be immortalized. His name will be inscribed on the memorial of military glory of the city», — reports a press-service of the city.

By the decree of the President of the Russian Federation «For courage, bravery and selflessness shown during the fulfillment of military service duty» Nikita was awarded the order of Courage posthumously. In January 2017 the award is transferred to the widow and four-year-old son of the deceased, who live in Belogorsk.
