The Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill arrived in Bishkek for a primatial visitation.

The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church is the first visit to Kyrgyzstan, the visit will last from 27 to 29 may.

«Kyrgyzstan is a very friendly country, and Russian, and Kyrgyz live in great friendship, and Russian language occupies a very important place in the life of the Kyrgyz people.., interpenetrate and complement our culture», — said the Patriarch at the airport in the media.

According to him, what a significant place of Russian language and culture have in the lives of the Kyrgyz people, «evokes a feeling of great respect.»

«And I hope that our good relations between peoples will always continue, regardless of the context of the political picture in the world», — said the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church.

He added that he was familiar with the heroic history of the Kyrgyz people and «would like to bring to all people living in Kyrgyzstan, wishes of peace, wellbeing, prosperity, international cooperation, and that God will preserve the land Kyrgyzstan».

At the airport the Patriarch was welcomed by the representatives of the leadership of Kyrgyzstan, the Russian diplomats and the clergy of the Bishkek diocese of the ROC.

According to the Patriarchal press service, on Sunday the Patriarch will make the consecration of the reconstructed Cathedral of the resurrection of Bishkek and the divine Liturgy in it. Also on this day will be blessed the Foundation stone for the construction of an Orthodox grammar school at the Cathedral of St. Prince Vladimir in Bishkek.

During the visit, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church will meet with the Kyrgyz leadership and the Spiritual administration of Muslims of the country. Also, the Patriarch will take part in the presentation of his book «Freedom and responsibility» published in the Kyrgyz language, which will be held in Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University.

As explained in the Patriarchate, from 2009 to 2017, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church visited 26 countries of near and far abroad, including visited a number of Muslim countries: Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, and Turkey. Of the former Soviet republics, the Patriarch visited Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Belarus and Ukraine.
