The opposition Conservative party of Canada chose a new leader, who has a rivalry with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in the elections of 2019, reports Reuters.

The head of the party was the former speaker of the house of Commons Andrew Scheer, who narrowly spared his opponent, the former head of the canadian foreign Minister, Maxim Bernier, said the Agency. He enlisted the support of 51% of the members of his party.

Shire took over the presidency of the opposition from its predecessor Rhone Ambrose.
