The oldest Russian actress Varvara Surovitskaya died in Rostov-na-Donu on the 104th year of life, informs «the Russian newspaper» with reference to the local branch of the Union of theatrical figures.

It is clarified that the actress died on may 25. Farewell to Suriowecki will be held may 29 at her apartment.

Varvara Ivanovna Surovitskaya was born in Pyatigorsk in 1913. In the 1930-ies began her acting career. During the great Patriotic war, she performed with performances and concerts to the soldiers of the red army at the front and in the rear, were awarded medals «For defense of Caucasus», «For Victory over Germany» and «For valiant labor in the great Patriotic war.»

The actress retired in 1968. She starred in the film «Give paw, Friend!» played in performances of «Hope Durov», «Commander Suvorov», «Port Arthur» and others.

As the newspaper notes, Surovitskaya, who had a great sense of humor, looked at things with optimism. According to her family, to questions about the secret of her longevity, she replied that he is «waiting for better times.»
