German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that Europe can no longer rely on others and should take their destiny in their own hands.

«Those days when we could rely on others, passed. I realized over the past few days… We Europeans must do to take their destiny in their own hands!» — quoted Merkel tabloid Bild.

The publication notes that the statement which the Chancellor made following the end on Saturday of the summit «the Big seven» for the new us administration led by Donald trump, and the upcoming Brexit.

While Merkel stressed that the United States and Britain should remain a friendly relationship, however, particular importance is attached to good relations with the new President of France Emmanuel Macron.

G7 leaders during a summit in the Italian city of Taormina, among other things, tried to achieve unity in the fight against climate change, however, in the final Declaration were forced to admit defeat for the US position, which had not joined the consensus on the Paris agreement.
