The solemn ceremony of donation of the Moscow Conservatory bronze sculpture of the image of Patriarch of the Russian piano art of Victor Merzhanov will be held on Monday, may 29 in the foyer of the Great hall of Moscow Conservatory, told in the press service of the Conservatory.

Victor Merzhanov after many years was able to carry the enduring values they have received from their great teachers, and pass them on to future generations. From Neuhaus, Feinberg, Peltier took Merzhanov General order of music-making, the seriousness of the task. He was always called to serve music, art, educate the public, elevating it, and not indulging the baser tastes.

Since 1936, when a student Merzhanov crossed the threshold of the Moscow Conservatory, and to the end of his days — over 65 years — he was closely connected with the Alma mater. Teaching activities Merzhanov in addition to teaching and master classes at CIM included work at the Warsaw Academy and the higher school of music of the German city of Trossingen.

Merzhanov was the Great Patriotic war and returned to Moscow, he won a resounding victory at the national competition (1945), honored the first prize, sharing it with Sviatoslav Richter. This was the start of a brilliant concert career as a musician. For 65 years Merzhanov has given over 2 thousand concerts in 330 cities in the world. Among the conductors, which accompanied the pianist such as the outstanding Maestro, as Kondrashin, Gauk, Svetlanov, Rozhdestvensky and Temirkanov.

The project was initiated by the sister of musician Margaret Merzhanov. The author of the bust is sculptor Vyacheslav Piliper.
