Charges of Russia meddling in the internal Affairs of Montenegro are an example of information lies related to the desire to show Western partners commitment to anti-Russian policy, said Monday the member of the Duma Committee on international Affairs Sergei Zheleznyak.

Earlier Radio and television of Montenegro (RTCG) reported that foreign Minister of Montenegro, Serjan Germanovich said that Russia «strongly intervened in the internal Affairs» of the country and tried to prevent the intention of the authorities of the Republic to join the Alliance.

«Fictions of the Montenegrin authorities about Russia’s intervention in the internal Affairs of this Balkan country — this is a good example of information lies, which the Montenegrin authorities are spreading to the outside world, to convince its West European and American partners in its commitment to the anti-Russian strategy,» — said Zheleznyak told reporters.

He stressed that Russia is not the first time hear charges in the address «about the elusive Russian hackers mysterious influence on electoral processes in countries where the authorities actually don’t know how else to distract the attention of citizens from the crisis and their political errors.»

«Gentlemen of Podgorica lie openly, stating that the people of Montenegro supports the country’s accession to NATO, and Russia would supposedly prevent. Russia has never interfered in the internal Affairs of other countries, we respect the sovereign right of peoples to determine the destiny of their country,» — said Zheleznyak.

Thus, according to the politician, Montenegro’s leadership has consistently failed to listen to its citizens, many of whom actively oppose the forcible retraction of the country in military-political Alliance, bombed and killed in 1999, civilians Montenegro and Serbia.

«To drown out the voices of Montenegrins opposed to the loss of the country’s neutral status, the Montenegrin authorities have invented the myth of Russian intervention. So they are trying to join the chorus of anti-Russian hysteria in the West and to prove their loyalty to the leadership of the Alliance,» — said the Deputy.

Montenegro on Thursday for the first time participated in the NATO summit after the ratification of the accession agreement by all member countries of the Alliance before the final procedure for obtaining membership on 5 June.
