The volume of trade between Russia and the Czech Republic in the first quarter of 2017 reached $ 1.6 billion, 42% more compared to the same period last year, said in an interview with RIA Novosti head of the Russian trade mission in Prague Sergei Stupar.

«The second half of 2016 began the gradual recovery of bilateral trade. As a result, in the first quarter of this year trade between our countries amounted to $ 1.6 billion, 42% more compared to the same period in 2016. At the same time Russian export grew by 64.1%, to 903 million dollars, while imports from the Czech Republic, 19.9% and amounted to 654 million dollars,» said Stupar.

According to the trade representative, is also growing investment activity. Many Czech companies have shown interest in the Russian market, where their products have always been popular. In particular, the company BRISK from the city of Tabor in October 2016, opened a plant for the production of spark plugs, the firm Agrostroj Pelhrimov building in the Voronezh region the enterprise for manufacture of agricultural machinery, machine tool company Hestego and Trimill develop its own production in Ulyanovsk.

«However, the Czech company will continue to actively participate in modernization of production capacities of Russian enterprises, and such projects are being implemented with the participation of credit funds of the Czech banks. Of the last projects I would highlight the design and equipment supply engineering company Chemoprojeсt Nitrogen for the construction of the production of granulated carbamide with the capacity of 500 thousand t / year for JSC «FosAgro-Cherepovets» and the supply company Papcel paper-making equipment for the Russian enterprise «Mayak-Tekhnotsell,» said Stupar.
