Man detained last week in London Stansted airport, charged with preparing terrorist attacks, said in a statement Scotland Yard.

«The man detained on may 23 at Stansted airport, has been charged with preparing terrorist acts», — said in a statement.

Earlier it was reported that the man was detained the night of may 23 before boarding the plane, next to Turkey. Detention is connected with his alleged trip to Syria. We are talking about a 37-year-old Oase the Pekah (Aweys Faqey).

As the Times writes, citing data from the trial, the accused intended to join the terrorist group «Islamic state» (IG banned in Russia) and make the attack on the Jewish fans of the English football club Tottenham Hotspur in one of the districts in North London. It is reported that Pekah is a Dutch national of Somali origin who lived in Britain in 2013.

According to the publication, the defendant went online and talked to terrorism suspects from Kenya, from whom received tips. In Turkey Pekah had planned to spend two weeks, and after that go to Syria.

The attack occurred on the evening of may 22 in the complex «Manchester arena» during a concert by American singer Ariana Grande. Undermining was carried out by a suicide bomber, Salman Abedi. Killed 22 people, including 12 children. Responsibility for the attack took the IG*.
