The Sakhalin region Governor Oleg Kozhemyako offered to issue visas to Russians travelling to Hokkaido, Sakhalin

On Wednesday, he met with the special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan, Hasegawa, Ehjjiti where and made the offer. During the meeting, he noted the increase of tourist flow from Russia to Japan and Vice versa, and stated that this direction should be supported and developed.

«This need (to get a visa for Sakhalin – ed.) among Russian tourists, arriving to us on holiday there. I think it would be well received here visa to go to Hokkaido to try Japanese cuisine, relax in the baths-onsens, shopping. Thus we raise the tourist attractiveness of Sakhalin and, of course, to Hokkaido it will also be advantageous,» said Kozhemyako.

Special adviser to the Japanese Prime Minister arrived to Sakhalin with a delegation of officials and businessmen to speed up the introduction of plans for the joint development of four Kuril Islands. The Japanese side presented perspective projects in the field of fisheries, tourism, energy, medicine etc.
