Surikov: relations of Moscow and Minsk are growing stronger, despite the «roughness»

Relations between Russia and Belarus strengthened, despite the occasional «roughness», said Saturday the Russian Ambassador to Minsk Alexander Surikov.

«Russia and Belarus unite fraternal relations for centuries, even in recent history, when the state acquired sovereignty and independence… Our brotherly and close cooperation in all areas is only growing stronger. There are certainly rough edges, but in the very principle of relationship becomes stronger», — Surikov claimed at the opening of the street festival in the Belarusian capital, «the Day of multinational Russia».

He recalled that this month the country will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. «All these years we have walked together on life — in the economy, politics, defence, humanitarian and cultural areas,» — said the diplomat. He added that stronger relations between people: Belarusians feel comfortable in Russia and Russian citizens in Belarus.

Surikov also said that during this festival the citizens of Minsk and guests of the Belarusian capital will be able to see «a small fraction» of the culture of the peoples of Russia.

In celebration of performances by song and dance groups of Russia, a master class on dance, master classes of craftsmen of folk crafts, fist fights, exhibitions of traditional folk culture and national costumes prepared by the representatives of the Tatar-Bashkir, Chuvash, Russian and Dagestani diasporas.
