The Minister of defence of Germany Ursula von der Leyen said that German troops will remain in Afghanistan for a long time.

«Even in Kosovo, the Bundeswehr is based almost 20 years. In Afghanistan, perhaps we should think in a broader time frame», — quotes the words tabloid Bild von der Leyen.

Earlier, the government of Germany has extended the Bundeswehr’s mandate in Afghanistan until 31 December 2017. A contingent of German soldiers up to 980 people will continue to work within the framework of the NATO mission Resolute Support, its tasks include advising and training Afghan soldiers and police.
