The first forum «Open to the Crimea: with my own eyes» on Sunday started work in Alushta, the participants were representatives of the Russian foreign Ministry, the authorities of Crimea, deputies of the state Duma and the Federation Council members, experts and journalists from Russia and countries near and far abroad.

The media forum «Open to the Crimea: with my own eyes» was organized at the initiative of a businessman and the publisher of British Newspapers The Independent and The London Evening Standard Alexander Lebedev. The forum brought together journalists and editors from Russia and other countries, representatives of the Academy of Sciences, experts and political scientists, workers of culture and art. Speakers at the forum, in particular, will become the head of the Crimea Sergey Aksenov, the official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

«Crimea three years ago and today is absolutely different things, and I feel that it was shown and told by journalists around the world. Not all could come, and that is understandable, but we welcome all who come to Alushta on the forum to see with your own eyes. I hope the forum will become traditional», — Lebedev said in his opening speech.

Maria Zakharova said biased Western media coverage of the situation on the Peninsula. «In Crimea, a great number of achievements that few places in the world can find equivalents. It is the tenacity with which the West looks at the Crimea with her eyes closed, amazing. It is time to open my eyes, that such activities are carried out», — said Zakharov.

The purpose of the forum was supported by the head of the Republic Sergey Aksenov. «We are pleased that present here today are not only Russian journalists, but also colleagues from Bulgaria, Germany, Cuba, Kuwait, Lebanon, Iceland, Spain, Italy and Syria. Our meeting is an important part of the strategy of public diplomacy, which contributes to the destruction of the propaganda myths about the Crimea and brings wide international recognition of our region as an inalienable part of Russia», — said at the opening ceremony Feldman.

The media forum will last for two days.
