In Astana leading experts discuss sustainable energy

The Ministerial conference preceding the Eighth international forum on energy for sustainable development, will begin its work Sunday in the capital of Kazakhstan.

The eighth forum and Ministerial conference will be held under the auspices of the international specialized exhibition EXPO-2017 «energy of the future» from 11 to 14 June.

The main topics of the forum and opening a Ministerial conference on «sustainable energy development» will be energy security, trade and infrastructure, the interplay between energy, climate and food, as well as the development of renewable energy in a regional context.

«The discussions at the eighth forum and Ministerial conference will help to understand how the UN system can assist countries and business communities in achieving and realizing the agenda for sustainable development», — noted the organizers.

It is expected that Ministers, high-ranking delegates and leading energy experts will exchange opinions about the launch of the transformation process, the role and importance of regional cooperation and planning, the need for interconnected solutions and approaches to implement the Agenda for sustainable development for the period up to 2030.

An appeal during the opening of the event to its participants were addressed by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev, the keynote presentation during the Ministerial dialogue which will focus on the problems and prospects of sustainable energy, by the Vice-President of the European Commission on Energy Union Maros Sefcovic. The event will be attended by the Ministers of energy of Kazakhstan and Russia Kanat Bozumbayev and Alexander Novak, and Minister of energy, industry and mineral resources Saudi Arabia Khalid al-falih.
