Fighters of the air forces of NATO, which the Baltic States the mission of the air police, once per week rose over the Baltic sea to identify and escort Russian aircraft, said Monday the press service of the Ministry of defence of Lithuania.

«From 5 to 11 June, the fighters of NATO air forces performing the mission of the air police, once rose in international airspace over the Baltic sea to support aircraft of the Russian Federation», — stated in the message.

According to the Ministry of defence, 6 June, the air force fighter jets, NATO has escorted over the Baltic sea flying from mainland Russia to the Kaliningrad region of the Russian aircraft Il-20.

«Il-20 was flying with a disabled radar responders, according to pre-plan the flight, communication with the mission control center supported», — said the Ministry.

Earlier, the defense Ministry has repeatedly stated that all flights of videoconferencing was carried out in strict accordance with international rules of using airspace over neutral waters without violating the borders of other States. The mission of the air police in Lithuania from the beginning of may exercise of the Polish air force with four F-16 Fighting Falcon.
