The Central Bank of the Russian Federation conducts a prudent monetary policy, and it finds understanding and support from international financial institutions, including from the International monetary Fund (IMF), said Russian President Vladimir Putin.

«The Central Bank pursues a prudent monetary policy, and it finds understanding and support from international financial institutions, including the IMF», — Putin said in an interview with the Director Oliver stone in the film shown on television channel Showtime.

He recalled that Russia has not only paid off its debt to IMF but also the debt of all the former republics of the Soviet Union, including Ukraine’s debt in the amount of $ 16 billion.

According to Putin, the IMF positively assessed the monetary policy of the CBR.

«But about monetary policy- we are in contact with Ms. Lagarde (Christine Lagarde, IMF chief – ed.), with other colleagues from the IMF, we inform about what we are doing, listen to their recommendations, and I know how the IMF evaluates the policy of the Central Bank of Russia assesses positively», — said the Russian leader.
