The U.S. calls on Cuba to improve the situation in the field of human rights, it is necessary for the development of economic relations between the two countries, said U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson.

«Cuba has failed to improve the situation in the field of human rights. If we develop a business relationship if we get profit, we intentionally or unintentionally provide financial support to the (Cuban) regime? Our opinion is Yes. We are investigating the issue. We would like to keep the «Sunny side» (with Cuba),» said Tillerson, speaking at the hearings in the Senate.

He noted that the US «would not like to provide financial support to a brutal regime».

Earlier, Reuters, citing its own sources familiar with the situation said that the US President Donald trump may announce a tougher policy towards Cuba during his stay in Miami next Friday.

According to the Agency sources, the new political course may include the tightening of rules of trade and entry into the United States. Reportedly, the assistants trump should send his recommendations to the security agencies and the President in the coming days.

In early February, the press Secretary of the White house Sean Spicer said that the US is reviewing the policy towards Cuba.

Washington and Havana has gradually improved relations with Dec 2015. In particular, they reopened the Embassy in the territory of each other, and the ex-US President Barack Obama called for in 2016, Cuba. The U.S. Congress agrees to cancel the existing more than half a century trade embargo against Cuba.
