The Cuban government took the first step to the election of the new head of the country instead of Raul Castro on 22 October appointed the election of municipal delegates.

According to the state Council of Cuba, published in the newspaper Granma, if necessary, a second round of elections held on October 29, if the candidates gets 50% of votes.

According to the Cuban electoral model, the next stage of the election is the election of deputies to the provincial assemblies and the National Assembly of people’s power (unicameral Parliament), which will choose a new head of state.
