. Scientists from the U.S. came to the conclusion that being alone increases self-centeredness, a study, an outline of which according to the portal science news EurekAlert!, published in the journal of Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin.

In the framework of examining the relationship between loneliness and self-centeredness experts for eleven years watching the 229 participants in the study aged 50 to 68 years.

Psychologists from the University of Chicago also found that there exists the feedback, as self-centeredness, in turn, leads to human loneliness.

«It was expected that loneliness affects the self-centeredness, but the opposite effect has become for us a real surprise,» says one of the study’s authors.

Subsequently, the scientists intend to conduct new studies in order to understand how to make people less lonely.
