Russian President Vladimir Putin said that though not a fan of Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev, says it is the initiator of the Cuban missile crisis.

«You know, if you’re to this again, I would like to recall what started the Cuban missile crisis. I’m not a fan of Khrushchev, but still the placement of Soviet missiles in Cuba provoked by the deployment of American missiles in Turkey, from which American missiles could easily reach the territory of the Soviet Union», — Putin said in an interview with the Director Oliver stone in the film shown on television channel Showtime.

According to him, «Khrushchev responded by placing missiles in Cuba». «He was not the initiator of the Cuban missile crisis», — said the President of the Russian Federation.
