Emerged in Russia after the collapse of communism, the vacuum could only be filled by religion, said Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with U.S. film Director Oliver stone.

Tuesday on the American channel Showtime was shown the second of four episodes of stone’s film, based on an interview with Putin.

The Russian leader noted that he considers the revival of Orthodoxy in the country of its merit. «I did not do. Did Russian people,» he said.

According to him, «this Renaissance was due to the fact that the Communist ideology ceased to exist, and the real vacuum.» «And it couldn’t be filled by anything other than a religion», — said Putin.
